ALBUM TALK...... ( 1 )
'THE THIEF WHO STOLE THE TRUTH' (I-Tunes)
"I guess this album is an extension to the work on "The Book of Secret Songs". It deals with similar lyrical and musical themes and asks questions. The opening track, "Almost There", with its swirling Celtic opening is somewhat at odds with the rock/pop feel of the album but I like the idea that it challenges the listener from the first moment. Lyrically the song's main character is always on the edge of his/her own expectation, just one step from the goal but aware that we are all on the same journey. Track 2 "On Your Radar" is a tale of unrequited love in a commuter setting amongst the faceless trains and cars of the rush hour. Third song up "Set Me Free & Let Things Be" is the story of two souls once tied but now drifting apart. "Echoes of the Earth" is as it states.... a plea to remember what's really important - not the credit crunch or your material needs but 'the Earth', the planet and a sustainable life for all its inhabitants. Again "How Can This Be?" questions why? Why injustice? Why poverty? Why? Let's lighten things up with radio single "I Am You & You Are Me" - a simple love song. Track 7 is "Stolen" with its beautiful melody and themes - I love you but you belong to someone else. "Someone in Disguise" attacks all the big questions - the whole nine yards. "Light Up The World" is a Motown style radio single with big brass and catchy chorus. Song 10 is "The Day the World Changed", a song about moments that can change everything. As we come to the end of the album "Caught in Her Fire" is the old story, "She looks like a star and I watch from afar but she's in a different Universe to me". The album ends on piano number "Even Before".... an old romantic." ROJOR
